About Glass Cowgirl

Abby Greenbaum, known as Glass Cowgirl, was born in Denver, CO, and raised in Houston, TX. She graduated from Tulane University in 2021 with a degree in psychology and studio art, specializing in printmaking. During her time at Tulane, Abby discovered her passion for glassblowing in two classes, with the final course taken in her last semester sparking a deep love for the craft.

After graduation, Abby became the head printmaker at New Orleans Glassworks and Printmaking Studio, where she also gained access to glassblowing classes. This opportunity allowed her to transition into teaching and assisting in those very classes. Alongside glassblowing, Abby was introduced to stained glass, which she continues to teach at the studio.

In her second year at Glassworks, Abby encountered the art of borosilicate glass—her true passion—under the mentorship of Andrew Justin Barrows. Through her work with Barrows, including assisting with his jewelry and glass recycling company, NOLA Alchemy, Abby developed a love for chain making, which ultimately led to her becoming the Glass Cowgirl.

Barrows also introduced Abby to Andrew Pollack and his studio on Magazine Street in New Orleans, where she continues to rent space full-time, creating and selling her work both in her studio and at local art markets.
